For more than 30 years, our practice has been preparing to help families and their young athletes remain champions, by staying healthy on the playing field and preparing them for a healthy lifestyle beyond their high school days.

DR. HOWARD J. LUKS
WHO HE IS, AND WHAT HE DOES…
A Better Educated Patient Will Ultimately Be A Healthier Patient.
Welcome! I’m Howard Luks, a Board-Certified – Sports Medicine – Orthopedic Surgeon with offices in Westchester and Dutchess Counties. At New York Medical College I am an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery where I am entrusted with the training of the next generation of Orthopedic Surgeons. At University Orthopedics, PC and Westchester Medical Center I am privileged to serve as the Chief of Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy.
OUR CORE PRINCIPLES ARE…
#Hometeam is both a state of mind and a UNIQUE approach to sports medicine.
We believe that patients should play the most important role in sports medicine. Fundamentally, we are here to help people reach their goals. As such, we expect patients play an important in their orthopedic care. From defining their goals to rehabilitation, we look forward to the patient as partner.
We Treat Patients Not MRIs
MRIs do not have goals. MRIs do not have fears. MRIs don’t do rehab. While we look at images, we never forget the big picture—people are the reason we do what we do. Deciding a treatment plan in sports medicine is much more than just an image. We want people to know that because we never forget.
A Tear May Not Equal Surgery
Sometimes the most difficult decision we make is not to operate on a patient. Often times, people think that any tear in a meniscus or ligament means surgery. The reality is that decision is much more complicated and incorporates patient specifics, goals, expectations, and a host of other factors. In short, we only recommend surgery when we feel the potential benefits exceed the potential risks.
Sports are a family value
#Hometeam means you are a parent, coach, cheerleader, and trainer all wrapped into one.
As the level of competition increases, so does the chance of injury to your student-athlete. What’s the best way to prevent injury on and off the field? If my child is hurt, can or should he/she rest or play through it. As the decision maker, you need to be armed with the best and latest information in sports medicine. This is where we enter the game—from over 30 years of practice, we are confident that we can help people make the best decisions. We strive to treat patients and their families as partners in their care. #HOMETEAM is how we help families and their youth athletes stay on their own field of dreams.
